Kasturidevi lands allocation to GVK Group irrational

Nellore: Kasturidevi Vidyalaya Parirakshana Committee members demanded to roll back decision of handing over Rs. 700 Cr worth valuable land located in the prime area of the city to GVK Group. Tikkavarapu Nandana Reddy and Prathyusha Reddy addressed the media here on Monday and demanded probe by a sitting judge on what grounds the huge chunk of prime land has been allocated for commercial purposes by the Government.
They also questioned that why the committee between 2000 and 2012 had not convened general body meet who sold out aided teacher posts in the institution. Member Dr Vasundhara Reddy said the institution has been started for improvement of girl child education in 1927 by Mahatma on his wife’s name only in 18 acres of land.
The institution has been named as Kasturidevi Vidyalaya in 1944 and the state government started finnaical aid from 1972. GVK Group is saying they would start here an school with international standards using its CSR funds and the committee members asked genuine nature of diverting funds from Mumbai Airport to Nellore. They demanded probe on entire episode violating basic objective of the prestigious institution.
