November 19 - A Calamitous Day For AP Village

November 19  was a disastrous day for the people of Komali village. 41 years  ago on the day,  the village was swept away in the cyclone that devastated the Diviseema.  

The  sensitive village located geographically very close to Nizampatnam port at the  sea off shore has been prone to affect badly whenever cyclone hit the coastal Andhra.  99 people who were taking shelter in a Church died on the spot when the religious structure caved in under the influence of cloud burst.  

As a mark of tribute to the victims,  the village people constructed a Memorial and hold condolence meeting on November 19 every year.  One of the survivors P Subba Rao recalled the plights the village people faced to survive from the calamity. 

He was 8 year old at that time.  Prabhu Das said that all village people congregate at the memorial and offer prayers for the departed souls.
