Vigilance officials seized Khaini from a private bus

Srikakulam: Vigilance and enforcement officials seized 128 Kga khaini along with revenue officials from a private bus at Chilakapalem junction on National Highway (NH-16) on Tuesday. According to Vigilance and enforcement SP, T.Harikrishna, five bags of Khaini found in a private bus which was going to Vijayawada from Parlakimidi of Odisha via Srikakulam district. Worth of the Khaini is estimated as Rs 1.19 lakh.
These khaini bags are being transpoting by one, K.Satyannarayana to hand over it to another K.Suryanarayana of Vijayawada. Satyannarayana purchased the banned khaini from T.Srinivas and G. Ramakrishna of Nivagam and Veergattam villages to carry it to Vijayawada said the Vigilance SP. To carry it to Vijayawada Srinivas and Ramakrishna procuring the banned good from Odisha as part of their business.
The accused along with khaini bags handed over to Etcherla police and they in turn registered case against accused under sections 188, 270, 272, 273, 328 of Indian Penal Code and also under sections 26, 30, 57, 58, 59 of Indian food safety and standards Act, 2006. AP state government banned manufacturing, sales, transport and consumption of khaini, gutka, ganja and tobacco products by issuing GO.NO. 6 on 9 January 2013.
