Pet dog stops robbery, busts thief
BENGALURU: Earlier this week, in a town named Ramanagara which is about 55 km from Bangalore, where a pet dog has become a hero, after cornering a suspected thief into the toilet and alerting its owner.
The 30-minute drama took place at the home of private school teacher Srinivasachar in Vivekananda Nagar, Ramanagara, on Tuesday midnight.
Srinivasachar said that he woke up at around midnight on hearing his dog, Ramu, barking constantly. “When I heard him, I could make out that Ramu was alarmed. I turned on the lights, rushed out and saw Ramu standing in front of the toilet. On seeing me, he began to bark louder. It was clear that the object of his worry was inside the toilet,” Srinivasachar told the cops.
He locked the toilet promptly from outside and alerted the beat police. Later, cops arrived at the spot and pulled out a drunk ragpicker, who is said to be living in a nearby locality. “The ragpicker couldn’t explain why he scaled the compound wall or hid himself in the toilet when Ramu chased him. We suspect that he had come to steal. But since the house owner did not lodge a complaint, we let him off with a warning,” police said.
