  • Leaders, advocates expressed grief on death of K.Punnayya

Srikakulam: Srikakulam district lost an eminent person, leaders and advocates expressed grief over death of justice K.Punnaya. He died of long time illness in a private hospital at Visakhapatnam on Saturday. On learning about it ministers, K.Kalavenkata Rao, K.Atchannaidu, MP, K.Rammohan Naidu said that Srikakulam lost an eminent person. TDP MLAs and other leaders also expressed their condolence on death of justice Punnayya. YSRCP leaders, Dharmana Prasada Rao, Dharmana Krishna Das and others also expressed their grief on death of Punnayya.

Punnayya was native of Kavali village in Santhakaviti mandal of Srikakulam district and he is father of TDP senior leader, former speaker and minister, K.Pratibha Bharathi. He practiced as an advocate at Srikakulam district court for two years from 1952 to 1954. He elected as MLA from Chipurupalli segment in 1955 and also served as vice chairman for Zilla Parashath and in 1962 he left from politics and again started practice as an advocate. He practiced at High Court from 1974 to 1985 and later he was elevated as High Court judge. He served as different positions in various committees appointed by the governments.
