BENGALURU: Enjoining people to join hands to save temple traditions, J Nandakumar , senior RSS leader and national convener of Prajna Pravah, alleged on Sunday that “there are forces trying to evangelise Sabarimala, targeting its traditions and the communist government headed by Pinarayi Vijayan is supporting it.”
Claiming that attacks by “evangelical forces” had begun as early as 1950, he claimed, “In the 1980s, a Cross was mounted in Nilakkal, the halting place for Ayyappa devotees during the pilgrimage.” He also inoculated the Kerala government for “trying to convert the pilgrimage site into a tourist destination to mint money.”
