AP Crafts Mela in Tirupati from Dec 17-20

Tirupati: The pilgrim city will host the 2nd AP Crafts Mela from January 17- 20. The department of tourism will be organising the event in which 120 stalls from AP and neighbouring states will be setup. The aim of the mela was to promote handicrafts and handlooms. 

It was conceived to promote the pool of skilled artisans who used indigenous technology, but we're suffering due to the cheaper machine made imitations, the district Collector PS Pradyumna has said. 

Addressing the media in Tirupati on Thursday, he said that eminent designers and celebrities will grace the occasion and promote the artisans. A workshop for weavers will also be held on the occasion.
