Crime Against Women Increases In AP

Union minister of state for home Hansraj Gangaram Ahir has said that crime against women has been increased in Andhra Pradesh.  

In a reply to a question posed by YSR Congress Party senior leader and MP Vijay Sai Reddy in Rajya Sabha,  the minister said that the total number of cases registered regarding crime against women were 6234 in 2016 as against 6071 in 2015 in Andhra Pradesh.  Though rape cases came down,  the other models of crime against women like harassment and physical assault  increased in the state.  

To curb the women crime,  government has taken several measures like Mahila rakshak,  mahila Mitra,  Dail 100 and Sakshi schemes.  A data base compiling the details of the accused in sexual abuse cases is under preparation.
