Fishermen poured their woes before YS Jagan

Srikakulam: Fishermen poured their woes before YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday. As part of his PrajaSankalpa yatra Jagan covered several villages in Tekkali assembly segment on 326 th day of his yatra. On the occasion fishermen poured their woes before YS Jagan as TDP government failed to fulfill its assurances made to them during 2014 elections. 

Government failed to include them in ST category list and they requested an assurance from Jagan on inclusion of them into ST list. They demanded jetties on the sea coast to improve facilities for fish hunting and also asked more employment opportunities to them to prevent migrations to other areas like Gujarath and Karnataka state for fish hunting. 

They requested Rs 10,000 for per month as compensation for fishing ban period and also demanded a corporation to fishermen community development in the state. The fishermen also asked more compensation for death during fish hunt, insurance facility in any unavoidable cases and reduction of age for getting pension. Jagan responded positively towards demands of fishermen and they also expressed happy over sharp and positive response of YS Jagan.

Mainly women in Santhabommali mandal complained to YS Jagan on denial of pensions to them even though they are eligible. Total 17 villages’ surpunches complained to YS Jagan as their cheque power was cancelled by the officials with the pressure of local MLA and minister for transport, K.Atchannaidu. Responding to it Jagan assured them wait some time good days are ahead.
