TS Government assures to buy damaged wet Paddy

Hyderabad: Due to recent Pethai Cyclone paddy is damaged at Paddy Purchase Centers in several parts of Telangana. Civil Supplies Department informed that it will purchase wet paddy and farmers should not worry in this matter. 

Civil Supplies Department estimated that up to 3,491 tons of paddy got wet state wide. It has taken measures to purchase every bit of it. 

As per latest reports, Civil Supplies Department has purchased 32 Lakh Tons of paddy from 6.15 lakh farmers at 3214 PPCs state wide. The cost of paddy is Rs. 5672 crores. In this Rs. 4922 crores have been deposited in farmers' accounts through online. 

Commissioner for Civil Supplies Akun Sabharwal said, there is no shortage of funds, farmers will receive Minimum Support Price (MSP) for their paddy. 

For the last few days, District Collectors, Joint Collectors, Civil Supplies officials visited cyclone affected areas and took all precautions at ground level to minimize the damage on farmers. 

Civil Supplies Department established Control Room Civil Supplies Bhavan to analyse cyclone affect. As per latest reports, out of total 3214 PPCs, at 1117 centers rain damaged 3,491 tons of paddy. Mainly at Mancherial, Siddipet, Adilabad, Sircilla districts PPCs heavy wet paddy is reported. 

On Thursday, Civil Supplies Department issued orders to millers to submit 10 percent of total paddy purchased to FCI under Custom Milling Rice (as Boiled Rice). 

The Commissioner said that with mutual coordination of Civil Supplies Department, Marketing, Transport, Rural Development (IKP) department Officials and staff, all preparatory measures were taken to minimize the damage caused due to unexpected rains. Sufficient Gunny bags, Tarpalins are available at all purchase centers. Purchased Paddy is transported to rice mills immediately. Till now state wide 32 lakh tons of paddy is purchased and 31.82 lakh tons is transferred to mills.
