Clean-up drive helped Begur, now they can breathe easy
Bangalore: Joint operation against footpath encroachment and illegal vendors, the BBMP, along with traffic police, carried out a special drive from Bommanahalli Junction to Kodichikkanahalli on Thursday.
As the part of the exercise the two wheelers parked on the footpath were towed away. Police Inspector Gavisiddappa said, “ It was a joint operation between the BBMP and Traffic police department. The drive was against illegal vendors and two wheelers parked on the footpath were towed away. We will continue the drive on Friday s well”.
Senior police officer Dr Soujanya A said, Begur Main Road is already a very congested road, on top of that, small shop owners place their boards and stuff on the roads and block pedestrian movement.
This drives will be taken in the nearby locations as well, officials said. Cases weren't book this time as we had a petty vendors. The people parking the vehicles on the footpaths blocks the road and block the traffic for 20-30 minutes. Such cases will be dealt seriously. We will fine them and book cases in the next drive”.
