In the western part of Bangalore crime makes its mark at the top
BENGALURU: In the city of Bangalore the western parts have edged the southeastern pockets of Madiwala and the tech hub around it, as per reports it has had the highest number of heinous crimes this year.
According to the police records have reported 47 murders, 163 murder attempts, 14 dacoities, 193 robberies and 80 chain-snatchings between the month of January and the 9th of December this year.
Areas which are located on the other side of the Mysore Road like Kengeri, RR Nagar and Jnanabharathi which fall under the west division. The localities are known for serial offences of robbery and mugging, that occur due to the shortage of staff.
The central division, which is comprised with the central business district, has recorded the lowest number of heinous crimes. “Police presence in CBD is conspicuous, and this is a reason for the low crime rate. Offences like robbery and mugging are very low,” an officer said. The central division reported 15 murders, 34 murder attempts, two dacoities, 54 robberies and 13 chain-snatchings.
The police department has claimed 90% of the cases in which are in the eight divisions have already been cracked. The detection rate is abysmal in the northeast division. Only 19 out of 55 reported robberies have been solved.
