Crime rate reduced in Srikakulam

Srikakulam: Crime rate regarding major offences reduced in number when compare with 2017 in Srikakulam district. Superintendent of police (SP) Dr C.M.Trivikrama Varma explained details of various categories of crime incidents in a press conference here on Saturday. In 2017 total property offences recorded as 194 and this year the number reduced to 168 and these offences reduced to 13 percent as against previous year. Total reported offences against women were 416 in 2017 and these offences fell down to 388 in 2018 and 6.7 percent reduction in this category crime reported. Total murder cases recorded as 29 in 2017 and 14 in 2018 and 51 percent crime reduced in this category.

But at the same time economic offences, attempt to murder, SC, ST atrocity and rape cases are in rise in 2018 as when compare with 2017. Total SC, ST atrocity cases in 2017 were 47 and in 2018 the same cases are 79 and 40 percent increase recorded in this category. Attempt to murder cases 21 in 2017 and 29 in 2018 and 27 percent rise recorded in this category. Rape cases also rise in 2018 as 41 but in 2017 these cases were 39. Economic offences also rise in the current year as these cases were 69 in 2017 and 72 in 2018. Total offences in all categories were 815 in 2017 and 791 in 2018 SP elaborated.
