Vigilance officials detected Rs 143 crore worth irregularities

Srikakulam: Regional Vigilance and enforcement department officials detected Rs 143.25 crore worth irregularities in various government works and schemes. Srikakulam region vigilance office covered both Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts. Regional vigilance and enforcement officer (RVEO), T.HariKrishna explained 2018 year wise details in a press conference at Srikakulam on Monday. Total worth of irregularities regarding government works and schemes in two districts is Rs 143.25 crore. Of it for recovery of Rs 90 crore notices already issued to concerned officials and Rs 17.75 crore recovered so far.

Vigilance teams also recovered Rs 25 crore royalties from illegal quarries in two districts as its owners not paying it. The officials also found anomalies in Neeru-Chettu and irrigation works and recommended action against 39 officials. They also booked cases regarding violations in civil supplies and recovered Rs 1.22 crore worth goods. With the aid of police vigilance teams booked 13 cases against selling and transporting of Gutka and Khainee packets. The vigilance teams also took action against 12 manufacturers of mineral water for violation of standards and also exposed selling of stale food and use of banned colours in food items in hotels.

The vigilance teams also concentrated on health services and exposed apathy of government doctors in providing services to poor and also to school going child though they are suffering from various diseases at early age. The teams also submitted reports to government on violation of safety rules by private schools managements in maintaining their school buses.
