Youth arrested for harassing a 32-year-old teacher
BENGALURU: During the New Year Eve revelry near the Richmond Circle on Double Road, a youth was arrested after a 32-year-old teacher had accused him of inappropriately touching her.
The incident took place at around 2:30 AM, as the two associates of the youth had walked away with the mobile phone of the woman which she had placed on the seat of her scooter, she told the cops. The accused, S Arun, is a truck driver and resident of Sampangiram Nagar.
“We had taken part in the celebrations at MG Road and were riding back home when the incident took place. When we were crossing Richmond Circle, a bike with three men astride it overtook us and the pillion rider touched my shoulder, shouting Happy New Year. My husband overtook the bike to ask him why he did so. The rider replied rudely saying we should have remained indoors if such a petty issue was bothering us. Heated arguments ensued, after which I realised the phone was missing,” she said.
The public was alerted, as the Hoysala vehicle rushed to the spot and caught hold of Arun while the others ran away. The Ashoknagar police have booked a case under IPC Section 354A (sexually harassing women).
