Bengaluru-based software engineer crushed to pieces after falling under the Chennai Mail

Bengaluru: On Thursday at the KR Puram railway station, a 38-year-old Bengaluru-based software engineer had died after he came under the wheels of the Chennai Mail.

The cantonment railway police had said that, K Kiran Kumar, who is a resident of Apoorva Paradise apartment which is located on Thambu Chetty Palya Main Road at Akshaya Nagar, near Ramamurthy Nagar, had tried to get down from the train, as it was not scheduled to stop at KR Puram.

Kiran belonged to Nellore in Andhra Pradesh, he worked as a project lead with the IT major Wipro and was on deputation to Zurich, Switzerland. He came to Bengaluru last week with a purpose of visiting his family members, including his newborn son, in Nellore. He left Nellore on Thursday night, arrived in Chennai by road and boarded the Chennai Mail to reach Bengaluru. As he was supposed to return to Zurich.

The train had approached KR Puram station around 4.30 AM. “Its first stop in Bengaluru was at East Railway Station, near Frazer Town, that comes after KR Puram. Kiran checked the train status on a mobile app and rushed towards the door when it reached KR Puram. When the train slowed down, he jumped out. He lost his balance and fell in the gap between the platform and the train.”

The police has said that, “Techie may have been in a hurry Run over by the train, his body was cut into several pieces.”

Railway police said that they traced Kiran’s family with the help of his cell phone contacts. “Kiran’s father fell unconscious when he heard about Kiran’s death. He was rushed to hospital, delaying the family’s journey to Bengaluru. They are likely to reach late Thursday night. We’ll conduct postmortem on Friday,” police said.
