Forest Dept rescues Python and Bronze Back Snake

Hyderabad: On receipt of reliable information, the Officers and staff of Medchal District and Anti-Poaching Squad, Hyderabad proceeded to a house in Venkatradri Township, Chowdarguda Village, Ghatkesar Mandal, Medchal District and found one Python and one Bronze Back Snake in the said house.

One person by name Sharan Moses was keeping the Snake for last one month for selling illegally to interested persons. His friend by name Vanorous Praveen, also a resident of Venkatradri Township, Chowdarguda Village, Ghatkesar Manda, Medchal District got himself photographed with the Python around his neck and uploaded the picture on Facebook and Whatsapp to attract prospective buyers.
 
The Forest Officials seized the two Snakes from their premises and booked a case under Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972. Python is a Schedule – I species and possessing and illegal trade attracts imprisonment of 3 to 7 years and minimum fine of Rs.10,000/-. The two accused persons have been sent to judicial custody before the Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Rangareddy.
