9 member Matka performers arrested in Proddaturu town

Kadapa: Proddaturu policehave arresed 11 Matka performers and seized Rs lakh cash, 3 cell phones, 21 Matka slips from them on Tuesday. The accused were identified as1. Sheik Khadar Basha,2. B.Jayarami Reddy,3. Syed Ali Peer,4.N.Narayana, 5.Y.Ravi Kumar, 6.Y. Venkatesh 7. N.Kondaiah, 8.V.Ravichandra Reddy of Proddaturu town, 9.K.Gopal Nelaturu village of Duvvuru mandal.

Addressing press conference in Proddaturu on Tuesday as part of initiative in eradicating the Matka Gambling in the town police arrested the accused while they are indulging in the crime. He said that  several poor  families in Proddaturu  town were ruined as they are playing Matka Gambling. He said following directions of higher authorities police warned the Matka performers not to encourage such illegal trade but they are continuing despite several warnings.
