GHMC prepares action plan for sanitation, healthcare

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is preparing an action for the next six months with regard to sanitation and healthcare of the citizens.

As per the plan, GHMC Mayor Dr. Bonthu Rammohan, all Corporators and officials will be coordinating for the overall development of sanitation and all other civic related issues at Zonal, Circle, Ward level etc., to achieve an assigned target.

Speaking to media persons after inspecting works in L.B. Nagar on Tuesday, GHMC Commissioner Dana Kishore said that it was wrong a perception that only sanitation was being taken care under Swachh Survekshan. He said that the GHMC has been planning in all aspects for the overall development of city.

Awareness campaigns are being planned in the coming days involving RWAs/NGOs/SHGs etc., on how to control various menace such as releasing water on roads, ban on plastic, etc., He said efforts were being made to involve everyone in the process.

The Sanitation staff will also be trained and heavy penalties will be imposed on those who break the rules. He said that the GHMC was concentrating more on SRDP works and planning to be complete them it in a time bound manner by taking up regular inspections every week.

The Commissioner said that the GHMC was taking up construction of one lakh double bed room houses at a cost of Rs. 8,000 crores. He said works were in progress and would be completed by the end of this year.

Zonal Commissioner Srinivas Reddy and senior officials of various wings of GHMC have participated in the surprise inspection taken up by the Commissioner at Kapra, Uppal, Hayathnagar, LB Nagar circles today in the early hours today.
