Story on GNSS from Kadapa

January 10   A major relief to the farmers of  Kadapa , Chittor  and  Nellore districts as the state  government putting serious efforts for completion of  Galeru –Nagari Sujala Sravanthi (GNSS) under war footing manner .

During the visit of chief minister N.Chandra Babu naidu  Janmabhoomi- Maa  Oovuru   programme   on 5th January  last year , and several times during his visit to the district  it was decided to the start the second phase of GNSS works.

 Irrigation  Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao , along with agriculture minister S.Chandra Mohan Reddy , local minister  C.Audi Narayana Reddy  who recently visited in the district ordered the officials to  to call tenders and launch the works without any delay.

Following  orders of the chief minister and irrigation minister  the irrigation officials began exercising in preparing revised estimations for total 7 packages, like 3,4,5 under GNSS in Kadapa district, 6and7 under Telugu Ganga project in Chittor district allegedly cancelled due to large scale of irregularities taken place in the works.

Under the second phase it was proposed to spent Rs 300crores against sanction of Rs 1280crores, for the construction of Valmiki Konda Reservoir with 24,330Km radius, construction of tributary canals up to 250km in railway kodur for providing water to another 10,000 in the district.

However officials willing to detailing the state government over forest clearance problem witnessing in 3 and 7 packages and urged to put pressure on union government to address the problem for completion of pending works.

When contact by Hans India Marketing Minister C.Audi  Narayana Reddy said that first phase of GNSS was almost completed except some minor works. He said there was problem in forest clearance for digging canals at Railway Kodur area. The issue was discussed with the chief minister during his recent visit in the district. After completion of revised estimation procedure fresh tenders will be called for the proposed works. “he said.

“We are on high hopes completion of second phase GNSS project as there will be sufficient water available for agriculture operations in our area.” Said P.Raghunatha Reddy of Railway Kodur mandal.                       

State government has taken up the GNSS works during the regime of late chief minister   Rajasekhar Reddy in 2005. It was proposed to spent Rs 1760 crores, and Rs 1280 crores in the second phase for agriculture need s of Kadapa, Chittor districts, and some part of Nellore district.    

However government records showed that construction related to the main canal of GNSS from 0. Km to 32.640Km against original proposal 24.330 Km in the first stage of project was almost completed except some minor works as the administration was able to release the water for total 45,000 acres in Kadapa district.
