114 Telangana MLAs take oath

Hyderabad: As many as 114 out of 119 elected members of Telangana State Legislative Assembly took oath as legislators here on Thursday. 

The newly elected MLAs were administered oath by Protem Speaker Mumtaz Ahmed Khan. The first session of second Assembly of Telangana began with National Anthem. Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao was the first to take oath as MLA. Later, six women MLAs were administered. Remaining MLAs took oath in alphabetical order prepared as per the rules of the State Legislature. 

While 101 MLAs took oath in Telugu, 10 took oath in English and three in Urdu language. Khairtabad MLA Danam Nagender came near the Speaker's podium to take oath with the help of two attenders. Secunderabad Cantonment MLA G. Sainna took the oath while sitting on a wheel-chair. 

Five MLAs who did not take oath today are Akbaruddin Owaisi and Jaffer Hussain Meraj of MIM, Madhavaram Krishna Rao of TRS, Sandra Venkata Veeraiah of TDP and Raja Singh of BJP.
