To create awareness the forest minister proposes zoo in every district of Karnataka
BENGALURU: On Wednesday Satish Jarkiholi the forests and environment minister had said that he has proposed a zoo in every district of Karnataka to create awareness regarding the wildlife in general and also about the exotic or endangered species in particular.
Jarkiholi was speaking on the sidelines of inaugurating the newly built enclosures at the Bannerghatta Biological Park. “It’s been about one-and-a-half months since I took over as minister. I’m meeting with the department officials to understand the issues as the subject is vast. Soon, I will convene a meeting to draw up a plan to upgrade the existing zoos in the state and also to set up new ones in districts which don’t have them,” he added.
On Wednesday BBP had inaugurated a package tour facility, called “A day out in the zoo.” A dedicated guide who will accompany the school students on a jeep and take them around the zoo, safari and other facilities at the park.
Air-conditioned bus-services, in which the visitors can ride through the safari area, zoo and butterfly park, which was also launched. Two battery-operated vehicles for ferry visitors, especially the senior citizens, around the zoo area have also been inaugurated.
