AP Govts preliminary report on cyclone Phethai damage

Amaravati: AP government declares the preliminary report on the damage caused by the cyclone Phethai in the state.
Cyclone Phethai made landfall on 17 December last year near Katrenikona in East Godavari, affecting the coastal districts with heavy rainfall.
Phethai caused destruction in eight districts, in 56,024 hectares paddy crop, and 12,500 hectares of commercial crops have been damaged, says the report.
3,00,000 metric tons of paddy stored got drenched and damaged due to heavy rains. The government issued orders to purchase the wet, and color changed paddy grains through the Civil Supplies department and decided Rs 1,550 as the purchase price per ton.
