Changes in flight operations at KIA due to Aero India 2019
BENGALURU: Due to Aero India 2019, the Flight operations at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) will be disrupted from the 14th to 24th of February.
On Monday the Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) in a statement had said that, “In order to ensure safety and to pave the way for the event’s success, Bengaluru airport will partially close commercial flight operations during the days of practice and the main show. BIAL is working with airlines offering scheduled aircraft operations, which will be impacted during this period, to ensure minimal disruption to existing flights scheduled during the reduced operating hours. Passenger convenience will be ensured with the respective airlines sharing timely communication on the change in airport operations and cancelled/revised flight timings,” it said.
As per BIAL, the airspace will be closed between 1.30PM and 4.30PM from February 14 to 17, for practice. On February 18 and 19, it will be closed from 10PM noon and 2PM-5PM or rehearsal and practice sessions. On February 20, operations will be stopped between 9AM-noon and from 2PM-5PM for the inauguration ceremony and air display. Between February 21 and 24, operations will be suspended from 10AM-noon and 2PM-7PM during the conduct of the Aero India.
“Ancillary support by airport taxi and bus service providers will be aligned to accommodate the anticipated increase in traffic on the main airport access road (NH7), that could increase commute time for flyers,” the statement said.
