Meet the Hyderabad woman who led 144 men team at Republic Day in New Delhi
Bhavana, a post-graduate student from Osmania University created history on Saturday by leading the 144-men male team in New Delhi on Republic Day.
The 26-year-old woman of the Indian Army Service Corps led the team with Army chief Bipin Rawat taking the salute.
Kasturi Bhavana had graduated from Aurora degree college and done her post graduation from Osmania University in microbiology. She did schooling from St George's Grammar School.
The woman who joined NCC as a student took her Services Selection Board (SSB) exam in 2016 and is now posted at Indian Army Service Corps, Bengaluru.
The tough time she had during the training at the Officer's Training Academy at Chennai where she carried an 18 kg bag in one hand and a rifle in other was now paid off after made the record as a woman leading a male army in the Indian history for the first time.
