YSRCP not to attend all-party meeting
Hyderabad: Reiterating that the demand for Special Category Status (SCS) was watered down by Chandrababu Naidu while he was with NDA coalition for four-and-a-half long years, YSR Congress has said with elections round the corner he has picked up that slogan conveniently and is trying to deceive Kapu community on reservations.
Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, party political affairs committee member and spokesperson Ambati Rambabu said, ‘with elections fast approaching Chandrababu Naidu has been on a spree of announcing sops left, right and centre even without thinking about the practicality.
The Centre has said that it will give 10 % reservations to Open Community which the TDP leader has been distorting and telling that he will be giving the same reservations for Kapu community and if need be, he would be passing a resolution in the assembly which is nothing but fooling people.
It is a fact that the 10 % reservation announced by the Centre is on the basis of economic standards keeping low income groups in view and it is not a caste based quota which Chandrababu Naidu is trying to project and hijack the scheme, he said.
He had also promised the women groups that he would be giving post-dated cheques before the polls while our leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has promised in the Navaratnas that the amount would be given directly to the women groups, who in turn will repay the loans and be debt free.
When it comes to the SCS, Chandrababu was the person responsible for watering it down and has said on the floor of the House that Special Package is better than SCS and praised the Centre for granting it. While our Party was all the time carrying out the struggle for the cause, the State Government has foisted cases and tried to foil the agitations.
‘Now with elections nearing, Chandrababu is shamelessly speaking of SCS which no one will believe and we refuse to be part of the drama he is playing before elections. The other meeting convened by Undavalli Arun Kumar too we will not be attending as we have to share the dais with parities and people who had earlier spoke against SCS,’ he said.
Like in Telangana elections, there is a proposal to create hype through false surveys with the nexus of friendly media projecting TDP as a winner but truth prevails and people will teach a fitting lesson, he said.
