Colonel. Surya Prakash appointed CVD Vigilance chief
Hyderabad: Telangana Government on Thursday appointed Colonel M. Surya Prakash, who worked for Indian Army for 32 years, as the Chief of Civil Supplies Department Vigilance and Enforcement Wing.
The State Government has been taking measures to improve Civil Supplies Department image by strengthening Enforcement Wing to keep check on corruption in Public Distribution system and prevent malpractice by rice millers and transport contractors. Therefore, it has decided to refine Enforcement Wing which is presently working under retired Superintendent Police rank officers.
Col. Surya Prakash will assume the charge on Friday and five teams will be working under him.
Colonel M. Surya Prakash was commissioned into the Indian Army in 1977 September. He worked in different sectors in places like Laddakh, Baramullah, Jammu Kashmir, etc. He participated in prestigious Operation Blue Star, Operation Rakshak, Operation Vijay and Operation Parakram. He also served as Joint Director in Army Headquarters, New Delhi and in Institute of Nuclear Medicine & Allied Sciences (DRDO) on deputation from Army. He retired from Army in the rank of Colonel after completing 32 years service.
Telangana Civil Supplies Enforcement Wing monitors all checks done on Civil Supplies Department. Its duties are to prevent side track of basic commodities supplied to Fair Price Shops and checking government, private godowns, stage 1, stage 2 transport vehicles. It will also inspect any e-POS, IRIS machine performance at ration shops and changes after the implementation of this machines, GPS, Supply Chain Management also. Enforcement Wing will book cases if found any fraud or malpractice anywhere in state and give reports to government, district collectors and Civil Supplies Corporation. District Collectors will take necessary action accordingly. If necessary PD act will also be implemented on the regular defaulters.
