Bandh evoked mixed reaction

Vijayawada:Bandh call given by Pratyeka Hoda, Vibhajana Hameela Sadhana samiti demanding the Central government to accord Special Category status to the state evoked mixed response from the people as normal life continued with hundreds of buses are plying in the city and traders started their activites. 

The TDP, the CPI, the CPM have extended suppprt to the bandh. Most private educational institutions declared holiday in view of the bandh while Government educational institutions opened as usual. 

So far, no untoward incident has been reported in Vijayawada and other parts of Krishna district. PCC Chief N Raghuveera Reddy, CPI state Secretary K Ramakrishna, Pratyeka hoda Vibhajana hameela sadhana samiti president Chalasani Srinivas and functionaries of Congress, CPM and CPI have staged protests in front of the Pandit Nehru bus station and near Railway station protesting against the negligent attitude of the Union Government in sanctioning  Special Category Status to the state. Some Mahila Congress activists staged protests near the Railway station as part of the bandh.
