Newborn branded with hot iron in Vizianagaram

 In an inhuman practice, a newborn was branded with a hot iron rod to protect the child from being attacked with the diseases. The superstitious practice took place in Ubaguddi village of Pachipenta mandal of Vizianagaram district. 

The five-day-old child has been branded on his stomach and wrists. However, he was admitted to hospital with severe burn injuries two days after the incident. Doctors at the hospital were shocked to see the newborn with burn injuries. 

Meanwhile, the parents of the child said that they followed the ritual of their village where every newborn will be branded with hot iron.
