BBMP temporarily suspends granting of approvals for building TV plans
BENGALURU: The public works department (PWD) which is under the direction of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) had temporarily suspended the granting of approvals for building TV plans.
On 2nd February the order to this effect had been issued by Rajneesh Goel the additional chief secretary (PWD) to the commissioner of BBMP N Manjunatha Prasad. The PWD is implementing the corridors through the Karnataka Road Development Corporation Limited (KRDCL).
The KRDCL is taking up work for executing the phase 1 of the project at the north-south corridor which connects Baptist Hospital, Hebbal, to Silk Board junction, for the total distance of 23 km.
However, sources have said that the north-south corridor will be passing through Mekhri Circle, Jayamahal, Cantonment Railway Station, Balekundri Circle, Chinnaswamy Stadium, Residency Road, Richmond Circle, Shanti Nagar Double Road, Shanti Nagar Service Road and Hosur Road.
An officer involved in the project has said that, the land acquisition shall be minimal and the directive to suspend the approval for building plans is just a precautionary measure.
The managing director of KRDCL, BS Shivakumar refused to share any details regarding the project and had said that, it is still in preliminary stages and information will be shared with citizens once things are ready for the execution.
The order from Goel had said that a meeting with the chief minister HD Kumaraswamy had given a nod for the project alignment and said that the matter should be placed before the cabinet for approval.
