Free Bus Travel gets easy for those with Kidney ailments in Telangana

 HYDERABAD: TSRTC has taken a heart touching move to extend the free travel to 7,600 patients of chronic kidney disease (CKD), who are undergoing dialysis as  part of the Aarogyasri Scheme of the state government.
The state transport corporation currently exhibited the free passes to various sections of the society, including school and college students, physically challenged persons, Freedom fighters, police martyrs and their family members. A government order the GO to the effect was also passed.

The decision to issue the free concessional passes to kidney patients was taken on the advice of the state government.
According to the plan, Kidney patients who are enrolled under the Aarogyasri will be eligible to travel in Pallevelugu and express buses in districts, While in Hyderabad and Warangal cities they can avail the free service in ordinary, metro express and metro deluxe buses.

The estimated cost for this is facility is summed at Rs 12.22 crores per year which will be reimbursed by the state government said managing director of TSRTC, Sunil Sharma.

The move is expected to go a long was in helping patients undergoing dialysis to complete their sessions in time as the cost involved in travelling long distances has been identified deterrent for many patients needing the service. This is especially true for patients hailing from far flung districts who travel anywhere between 10 to 100 kilometers for dialysis.
