Former minister Paleti Ramarao arrested at Chirala
Chirala: The Chirala police arrested the former minister and local Telugu Desam Party leader and his followers on Wednesday for inciting riots and disturbing peace in Chenethapuri Colony.
According to the rural police CI B Prasad and locals, after the Chirala MLA Amanchi Krishna Mohan switched loyalty from TDP to YSRCP, the local senior TDP leaders are trying to win back the confidence. On Tuesday evening Paleti Ramarao and his followers organized a meeting at the Konijeti Chenethapuri Colony and invited the locals to share their problems.
Meanwhile, the locals questioned Ramarao, why didn’t he came to visit them earlier and an argument burst out. The followers of Ramarao have beaten four locals, who were severely injured and shifted to the hospital after a complaint at rural police station. The police booked a case for rioting and disturbing peace on Ramarao and his followers and arrested four of them.
On Wednesday morning, Ramarao and his aide Sajja Venkateswarlu came to the police station to visit their men and the CI announced that he is arresting the due too in the same case. Ramarao alleged that the police are supporting Krishna Mohan and his men and harassing him even for trying to good to the public. He said that they are cooperating with the MLA and not arresting him even though a number of warrants are pending against him and his men. The MLC and TDP Women wing president Pothula Suneetha visited Ramarao to console him and inquired the CI about the case.
The CI Prasad announced that the police will not allow anyone to incite violence in the area and is not supporting anyone. He asked the public to cooperate with the police and see the coming elections are held in peaceful atmosphere.
