OU set to establish School of Education
Hyderabad: The College of Education of Osmania University is all set to establish the School of Education under the MHRD sponsored Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya National Mission for Teachers and Teaching.
The proposal submitted by the university was defended by University, represented by Prof. T. Mrunalini, Dean, Faculty of Education and Dr C. Srinivasulu, Coordinator, IQAC during the 12th Project Approval Board meeting held on 1st February 2019 at New Delhi.
The proposed School envisions bring about changes in pedagogy and research in teachers and teacher educators through intensive training programs. The focus of program would be to train teacher & teacher educators through introduction of new contemporary programmes for teachers and teacher educators in the form of short-term academic, research and training programme; collaborate and coordinate with State-level and National-level educational bodies, and establish linkages and collaborations with international institutions for educational innovation; and enhance curriculum, prepare e-modules for teacher education and ensue better pedagogical interventions and training to stakeholders to encourage education innovation and entrepreneurship.
The activities of the School of Education will be executed primarily through two Centres - Centre for Pre-service Teachers and Professional Development of Teacher Educators, and Centre for Curriculum Research and Educational Development.
Prof. S. Ramachandram, Vice-Chancellor has congratulated all the stakeholders on the selection of the University for establishing the School of Education and has opined that the proposed school will help in professional development of about 5000 Teacher Educators and Secondary School in-service teachers.
