BENGALURU: On Wednesday morning the city roads had encountered vehicles crawling, as thousands of vehicles were heading towards the Aero Show venue at the IAF station, in Yelahanka, for the inaugural of the high-profile event.

As the traffic police department had anticipated the confusion, they had already arranged alternative routes, including towards Kempegowda International Airport. However, there was chaos across the flyovers of Hebbal, Mekhri Circle, Kogilu Cross, Outer Ring Roads connecting Hebbal, elevated expressway to Kempegowda International Airport, junctions of Hennur, Banasawadi, Bagalur and Kogilu Cross.

A senior traffic police officer had said that, “We were prepared for the bottlenecks. Despite barring heavy vehicles, including trucks and private buses, the number of vehicles was more than our expectations. Definitely, the number of vehicles are more on these roads compared to the previous Aero Show.”

“Vehicles heading to the city from Chikkaballapura direction are facing the heat. The problem will continue till the show concludes on Sunday and more congestion is expected during the weekend,” said another traffic police officer.
