International status to kadapa Airport
Kadapa: Here is good news for people of the district as the kadapa Airport is going to own international status in operating fights to foriegn countries very soon.
In recent cabinet meeting of ministers state government has decided to operate flights to various Abroad countries from kadapa Airport in the interest of locals.
As part of this initiative government has released 64 Crores for various development works like night landing facility, extension of runway length & width , setting up signal lights in the hillock area, extension of flight parking , restoration of terminal building e.t.c.
According to the official sources the on going works are proposed to complete by ending of this year. If the works completed there may be possiblity of people to have travel foriegn countries like USA , England , Australia , Thailand e.t.c countries.
It may be recalled about 40 percent of people in the district especially from kadapa, Rajampet , Rayachoti, Porumamilla,Sidhavatam ,Jammala Madugu ,Nandaluru ,Atluru , Badvel mandals are going on migration for lively hood for gulf countries.
They have to travel either Bangalore or Hyderabad ,Chennai to pick up fights for gulf countries .If facilities restored they have to boarded flights from kadapa Airport.
When contacted by Airport director Shiva Prasad said that the kadapa Airport which was selected under Central government sponsored VUDAN-3 would have all possibilities to operate service to Abroad countries and small cities in India. He said presently 70 seats capacity Truejet flights are being operated to cities like chennai , Hyderabad, Vijayawada.
He said lenght of runway being increased from 1716 to 2500 meters and width is 30 meters to 45 meters.signal lights are proposed to setup in 15 nautical miles in surrounding hillock areas he said presently there was facility for parking two flights it would be extended to park 6 flights by spending RS10 crores he said runway works and parking works are proposed to complete by ending of June.
He said infrastructure facilities were completed there will be possiblity for operating INDIGO services to Mumbai ,Visakapattanam cities,and also foriegn countries.
