We have people’s support; no caste and media: Raghuveera
- Raghuveera said they had received 1,300 plus applications and finalize the list of can-didates by March 8-9
Nellore, Feb 24: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee President N Raghuveera Reddy said that though they were having strong candidates they are confident that they would win hearts of people as they started assuring much-awaited Special Status, and achieving sops incorporated in the Reorganization Act.
He addressed the media here on Sunday and said that it is not new to the party having weak candidates which they had witnessed during Indira Gandhi’s regime where majority people left the party. Still, voters honored them with their valuable support during the elections. Now, he exuded confidence that they would bag support of the people during this elections too.
“Many parties are saying we don’t have strong candidates and others. Yes, that is true. They have power, money, caste and media and we are lacking them which they have been defin-ing them as their strength. SCS and other support to the state are our agenda and people are backing them. 74 pc of people in AP accepted Rahul Gandhi as their upcoming Prime Min-ister,” said Raghuveera.
He also said that earlier in 2014 Prime Minister Narendra Modi was having 74 pc acceptance from AP voters and now it decreased to 12 pc which indicates how they had influenced the people.
“They are assuring people financial support through election-oriented schemes, direct money transfers and many others only because of fearing to face elections. Suppressed and down-trodden communities are uniting again as there has been a silent revolution in the state. We don’t need to have tie up with any political force and we always respect tie up with people,” explained the PCC Chief.
Taking pot shots at the opposition YSR Congress party, Raghuveera said that they show one flag during day time and change it in the night. He said there are many people who can han-dle the state as was being propagated only two persons have to rule the state.
“We treat all parties including ruling TDP, opposition YSR Congress and BJP as our opponents. They are all against the congress. Is this your ancestral property to rule the state? Police failed to protect in Venkatagiri on Sunday when we were taking up Yatra where both ruling and opposition colluded. YSR Congress people are shouting us as thieves though they had burgled the state,” said Raghuveera.
He also said they had received 1,300 plus applications for various seats across the seat and would finalize the list of candidates in the first week of March and announced by Mar 8-9. He said former Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy is trying to show his loyalty to the party chief playing this kind of cheap tricks instigating party workers. He said he is new to the par-ty and hence trying to prove his ‘Swamy Bhakti’.
