Political story on Mydukuru constituency from Kadapa
Kadapa: Political scenario seems to have taken an interesting twist with the senior Congress leader and former minister Dr Duggi Reddy Lakshmi Ravindra Reddy has decided to contest as independent candidate from Mydukuru Assembly segment in the ensuing elections.
It reportedly has known ‘DL’ has taken such step after he was ignored to provide Mydukuru ticket either with TDP or YSR Congress due to local power politics. A native of K.Sunkesula village of Mydukuru Mandal started his political career as an Independent MLA by electing from Mydukuru Assembly segment in 1978.
Before he taking decision of contesting as independent, about 5 months ago several YSR Congress leaders like Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, YS Vivekananda Reddy, Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, etc were have met ‘DL’ asked him to join with YCP but negotiations failed as Jagan Mohan Reddy ignored his proposal of providing him Mydukuru ticket as he specified it was already confirmed to sitting MLA Setti Palli Raghu Rami Reddy.
However, it is learnt that he also was reluctant to provide TDP ticket when he met chief minister N.chandra Babu Naidu before he joining with TDP on 7th February but disappointed as it was already confirmed to TTD chairman Putta Sudhakar Yadav forced ‘DL’ to induct into the fray as Independent.
As a contemporary to YS Rajasekhar Reddy in politics and having a close association with his YSR family, he had joined with Indian National Congress (INC) as he continued to win from the same party in 1983, 1989, 1994,2004, and 2009 elections.
He represented as minister for joint Andhra Pradesh during the regime of chief ministers like Neduru Malli Janardhan Reddy, Kotla Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy, Rajasekhar Reddy, K.Rosaiah, N. Kiran Kumar Reddy. However, he was sacked from Kiran Kumar Reddy cabinet following he opposed the cabinet resolution on 23rd November 2012 regarding ignorance of permission CBI to prosecute minister Dharmana Prasad Rao in the Camp case and also made derogatory comments against the chief minister N.Kiran Kumar Reddy. Later he became inactive in politics after he was unsuccessfully contested from Kadapa MP seat in 20011 by-elections.
