BENGALURU: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has now put a private agency on the job, of capturing the cats on the Raj Bhavan premises. The civic agency will be paying nearly Rs 1 lakh to put around 30 cats in the bag.
The animal husbandry department of the civic agency has said that, it had never caught cats, though it was experienced in catching dogs and pigs. With no other way to go, the department invited tenders to catch cats.
An agency has recently been awarded the tender for Rs 98,000. BBMP commissioner N Manjunath Prasad had said that, if the prices seem to be too high, then the deal would be scrapped and tenders shall be invited again.
The sources of the Raj Bhavan have said that, the cats often stole upon the family members of the governor when they walked their pet dogs on the premises. “The dogs get ferocious when they spot the cats and the latter retaliate. Cats keep moving around VIP visitors, and the staff have a tough time shooing them away.”
