Air Pollution Causes Diabetes

Growing air pollution has become a major threat to increase the risk of diabetes among people , according a study published in the journal- Lancent Planetary Health.
The study report said that in 2016 alone, nearly 14 per cent of the total diabetes cases are reported due to air pollution. In America, air pollution was linked to 1,50 lakh diabetes cases every year.
The study revealed that ‘air pollutants lead to oxidative stress and inflammation of adipose tissue, and subsequent insulin resistance, endoplasmic reticulum stress, and apoptosis’.
It was found that air pollution is a very important cause of heart disease and stroke and contributes to chronic lung disease, lung cancer and kidney disease.
