KCR says Mahakutami will bring back dark days of poor or no power supply to Telangana if voted to power. Do you agree?
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao seems to have impressed upon the people that the TRS government has fulfilled its promise of making the State power surplus. Majority of respondents to the query have felt that the KCR government has made real progress in ensuring round-the-clock power supply. KCR’s stinging rebuke at Mahakutami at a public meeting seems to have gone down well with the people. A section of people in Hyderabad, however, have disagreed with KCR that dark days will return to the State if Mahakutami is elected to power. Farmers seem to have agreed with KCR’s warning
I don’t trust grand alliance. I had seen Congress governments during united Andhra Pradesh. Power supply was irregular under the Congress rule. If the grand alliance is voted to power, the State will witness dark days once again. The State witness development during the last four-and-half-year rule of the Congress. The Congress government had neglected the Telangana region and the party has no moral right to ask for votes. - Advala Shiva Prasad, Private employee, Adilabad
As it is election time, politicians will make all sorts of comments to grab the attention of the voters. KCR has tried to create a sense of fear among the people that if Congress comes to power dark days will come back. There is a point in what KCR said. During the Congress regime between 2004 and 2014, the situation in Telangana region as far as power supply was concerned was pathetic. The situation touched a nadir after N Kiran Kumar Reddy became Chief Minister. The Congress governments had miserably failed to ensure quality power to people. KCR pointed out that situation would deteriorate if Mahakutami is elected to power. But I do not agree with KCR that the State has overcome all hurdles and today is becoming a power surplus State.

It is absolutely true. I completely agree with KCR that Mahakutami, if voted to power, will bring back dark days. There will be poor or no power supply in the State. The TRS government has been providing round-the-clock power to 2.3 million farmers in the State free of charge. No other State in our country has made available free power to farmers. The previous Congress government had failed to provide 23-hour power to farmers. - Rachakonda Swathi, Private Employee, Karimnagar
I don’t agree with KCR’s comment that if Congress comes to power, it will bring back dark days. The situation in the united Andhra Pradesh was different. The governments then had to grapple with power shortage in one region and power surplus in other. Of course, Telangana region had been given a raw deal in the united AP. In the new State, power generation capacity has gone up. I do not think that the situation will deteriorate again. - Karan Kumar, engineering student, Mahbubnagar
No, I don’t agree with KCR statement that Mahakutami will bring back dark days of poor or no power supply to Telangana, if it is voted to power. The round-the-clock power supply cannot be an issue in the elections. The State government is providing assistance at the rate of Rs 8,000 an acre to farmers. The government promised to increase it to Rs 10,000 per an acre from the next year. The farmers need not worry about round-the-clock power supply. Similarly, industrialists too are securing subsidies from the government. Why should one suspect that Mahakutami cannot ensure 24-hour power supply.- V Satish, businessman, Amberpet
No, I don’t agree with KCR statement on power supply. It was earlier a political issue in the elections, but now it cannot still remain an issue. Demand for more jobs is growing. The ruling party should focus on the need to create more jobs. It should also turn its focus as to why the youth in the State are not getting more jobs in software and hardware companies. The companies are getting huge subsidies from the government. The ruling party should at least provide financial assistance to the unemployed youth. - Mohammed Nawaz khan, fitness trainer, LB Nagar
I completely disagree with KCR’s words that dark days will return if Mahakutami is elected to power. In my opinion, the 23-hour power supply has proved counterproductive. Moreover, I think the farmers do not need more than nine hours of quality power supply. The round-the-clock power supply has led to overexploitation of groundwater - Ellendula Ramesh, self-employed, Huzurabad, Karimnagar.
KCR’s warning that dark days of no or poor supply of power has brought back to the memories of former Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy’s caution to people that the statehood to Telangana will push the region into darkness. Such warnings are just emotional blackmail. - Kamalamma, housewife, Nalgonda
I agree with KCR that all sectors, including industrial and agriculture, will suffer, if Mahakutami is voted to power. Dark days may return. Congress leaders should include round-the-clock power supply in their common minimum programme. - Ahmed, printing press operator- Nalgonda
