Death of US visitor shocking
It is shocking that a young American national, who came to Andaman on a tourist visa was killed in a gruesome manner with bows and arrows by a sect of critically endangered and fiercely independent people, who wish to be being left aloof from civilised society (November 23) . It is a pity that undue significance is given that the deceased is a Christian missionary, allegedly visited to the restricted area with a mission to covert the tribes but least bothered about loss of a precious life. We seem to forget our culture ofatithi devo bhava (guest is God) and I am sure the incident is a dent on the reputation of tourism industry, which is picking up rapidly in recent times across the country.
