A fraudster MP and his ill-gotten wealth
Former Union Minister and TDP MP Y Satyanarayana alias Sujana Chowdary hit the frontpage headings of vernacular as well as national newspapers. It was alleged that a company owned by him indulged in a bank fraud of Rs 5700 crore. It came to light with the raids of the Enforcement Directorate on his companies and residence.
The ED officials recovered 124 rubber stamps relating to various companies with ghost addresses apart from seizing of three high end cars. Surprisingly, the employees who were working in the company were the directors. But Chowdary claimed that he had a car worth of Rs 3 lakhs in a press conference.
Moreover, he stated that he had been paying income tax regularly for the last 29 years. Against this backdrop, the common man's doubt is that how he was made Minister in the Union Cabinet. The recent decision of his party’s government also giving scope to the public that the State government withdrew the general consent given to the CBI to save its people from the raids of it.
Thus, the AP government must seek through probe not only on Chowdary but also others to prove their sincerity rather than attributing vindictive charges against the Modi government. Otherwise it will pay heavy price in ensuing elections.
