Vanteru Pratap Reddy who is contesting against KCR in Gajwel says he has a threat to his life. Do you agree?

Update: 2018-11-27 05:30 IST

With time ticking fast for the polls in the State, contesting candidates intensify levelling wild allegations against their opponents. In the politically-charged atmosphere, allegation by Vanteru Pratap Reddy against K Chandrashekar Rao holds no water. Readers are skeptical about any such threat to Pratap Reddy’s life from KCR. They hold divergent views on such an allegation being levelled against the caretaker Chief Minister. The allegation smacks of sensationalism and is done to grab the attention of the people

I do not agree with Vanteru Pratap Reddy’s allegation that he has threat to his life. Being a Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao will never play such cheap political trick, and nobody is going to harm Reddy. Pratap Reddy, who very well knows that he will lose the elections, is enacting the life threat drama only to garner votes. - Kasthala Santosh, businessman, Adilabad

I completely agree with Vanteru Pratap Reddy’s allegation, as there could be truth to it because Reddy is pitted against the TRS president and caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. However, no leader should resort to threatening if they are confident of winning the elections. People are aware of happenings around them and know whom to vote for. These kinds of acts done deliberately will not fetch any votes. - Ponnam Srinivas, self-employed, Karimnagar

I do agree with Pratap Reddy’s allegation, because he suffered a lot under the TRS regime. It is the duty of the Election Commission and the police to initiate a probe into the allegations besides providing him the security till the elections are over in the State. - J Uma Devi, Homemaker, Nalgonda

In the benefit of doubt, I partially agree with Vanteru Pratap Reddy’s allegation that he has a threat to his life. Whether it’s true or not, the State electoral officer and the police should take it seriously. If the candidate in the caretaker Chief Minister’s constituency feels threat to his life, then how can the elections will be held peacefully and freely? The Election Commission and police should act impartially and inquire into his allegations.  - P Raghuvarma, private employee, Miyapur

Vanteru Pratap Reddy is making false allegations to gain sympathy votes from people. Everyone knows that caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao will win with bumper majority. People of Gajwel will cast their vote in favour of KCR for the all-round development of the constituency that has been taken up under the TRS regime.- Pochanna, private employee, Adilabads

I don’t agree with the statement of Vanteru Pratap Reddy who is contesting against K Chandrashekar Rao in Gajwel. I feel it is just a political statement made to earn sympathy and votes of people. The Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief has no need to threaten Reddy. Further, KCR will win the upcoming elections with big majority.  - S Venu Raj, Kothagudem

In general, politicians make sensational comments during the election time to grab the attention of voters. However, I urge the police and the Election Commission call for an inquiry into the allegations and also provide necessary protection to Pratap Reddy to avoid any untoward incident. - A Jana bai, retired teacher, Nalgonda

Yes, I partially agree with the statement of Vanteru Pratap Reddy. In my view, it is a serious matter which has to be dealt seriously. Because, he is pitted against TRS chief and caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. If something happens to Reddy, there will be political chaos in the State which will not be good for the democratic system of our country. An independent inquiry should be ordered into allegations and his security should be enhanced till the elections are completed. Usually, when an opposition leader is pitted against a strong ruling party leader, there will be some pressure from the ruling side to disturb the opposition leader and make sure their winning chances dwindle. The Election Commission and the police should provide him the needed security till the polls are over. - Y Ramesh, private employee, Nallakunta
