A proud moment
Inauguration of Bogibeel Bridge is a proud moment for all the Indians. The present government brought this long- standing project into reality. In fact, foundation stone for this project was laid by Deve Gowda in 1997 and work was started in 2002 when Vajpayee was our Prime Minister. Later UPA-1 and UPA-2 governments kept it in cold storage completely. After 21 years it is completed reiterating the fact that if the government is committed, no project is impossible.

The inauguration of India's longest bridge, Bogibeel bridge in Assam across Brahmaputra river by the prime minister is good news for all Indians. As he said it is not only a mere bridge, but a lifeline for it not only cuts the distance for commuters, but also eases movement of defence apparatus near China border. The northeastern region, despite its importance in the terms of national security, has not witnessed the required developmental activities to fill the gaps between it and rest of India. Now such projects will help the neglected region to come closer to the mainstream, apart from serving the national security causes. The government deserves praise, though it has taken twenty one years to complete Asia's second largest rail cum road bridge.
