Why New Year celebrations?

Many of us celebrate New Year. But this new year celebrations affect us in many ways. Drink and drive cases, over consumption of alcohol, fire crackers burnt cause air pollution, overnight screaming on top of building, rash driving on streets etc. Celebrations which spread happiness around us can be called as celebration. Celebrations which cause crime and harm Mother Nature … should  we celebrate this new year?
