Army Chief is right

Update: 2019-01-12 05:30 IST

It is indeed welcome that our Army Chief Gen. Bipin Rawat has not minced his words in giving a stern warning to his Army men. No one in the Army is permitted to indulge in gay sex or adultery as the conduct of personnel is governed by Army Act. The Army finds the act of ‘adultery as ‘stealing the affection of a brother officer’s wife.’ This is quite a convincing definition that can deter the army men from perpetrating the crime.

But at the same time, the Army Chief, respecting the country’s law, has said, “ We are not above the country’s law. But when one joins the Indian Army, some of the rights and privileges one enjoys must be forfeited as a true Indian soldier.” So considering its entirety of the gay sex issue in the Army, the Army General has set its own strict code of conduct for the Army with lofty ideals that can hold the Army in high esteem.
