Don’t expect miracles from Saudi Arabia!

Update: 2019-02-21 05:30 IST

Breaking protocol to express the warmth in welcoming to the visiting guest has become a routine affair for Indian Prime Minister Modi. Though it is not objectionable to go the extra mile in making the guest feel important, it should be occasional, but not routine. This time Saudi Arabian Prince MB Salman has got a grand welcome by India. In the back drop of Pulwama attack wherein forty paramilitary men lost lives in a Pakistan based JeM orchestrated terrorist act, India has been expecting moral support from Saudi against Pakistan.

But it's hardly a possible idea. Saudi has good rapport with Pakistan as the latter is working against its rival Iran. It cannot go against its own interests for the sake of India. So, it’s better for India not to expect too much from the VIP guest regarding isolating Pakistan. It can improve the economical, social and cultural ties with Saudi which are already on trajectory.
