Delhi cops arrest Indian Mujahideen terrorist involved in 2008 Batla House encounter

In a major breakthrough, the Delhi police on Wednesday arrested 32-year-old mastermind of Indian Mujahideen, who was involved in the serial bombings in Delhi a decade ago. He has been evading arrest for well over 10 years.

Ariz Khan played a key role in putting together bombs that were detonated in Delhi, Ahmedabad, UP and Jaipur in 2007 and 2008. These explosions had left 165 dead and 535 injured.

According to senior Delhi cop Pramod Kushwaha, said the arrest has come at a time when Ariz and another terrorist Tauqeer aka Abdul Subhan Qureshi were trying to revive the Indian Mujahideen. He said Ariz Khan was present during the famous Batla House encounter of September 19, 2008, but managed to escape to Nepal, where he had a fake Nepali citizenship and a passport in the name of Salim. He traveled to Saudi Arabia in 2014 to raise money for the IM. He camouflaged himself as a teacher in Nepal and a labourer in Saudi. He was arrested while sneaking into India from Nepal.
