Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan air dashes to Mumbai to call on ailing Manohar Parrikar
Mumbai: National leaders are making a beeline to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai, where Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has been admitted. On Tuesday, Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan called on Parrikar at the hospital, where he is under treatment for pancreatic ailment. Prime Minister Modi and vice-president Venkaiah Naidu went over to the hospital to call on the ailing Chief Minister.
Parrikar was admitted to the hospital on Feburary 15 due to serious health complications. There were doubts as to whether the chief minister would be able to attend the budget session of Goa assembly. However, on Wednesday, he gave finishing touches to the Budget even while being in Hospital.
There were rumours that he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.However the hospital authorites refuted the rumours and said the reports were malicious and misleading.
Parrikar, a three-time Goa CM, served as India’s defence minister. Immensely popular, he steered the BJP to a victory in Goa in the last year’s assembly elections.
