3 Northeastern states Assembly elections result 2018

The fate of 3 Northeastern states, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Tripura Assembly elections results will be declared on March 3 2018.

In a statement, Chief Election Officer said the counting of the votes will start at 8 AM and 11 companies of Central Paramilitary Forces have been deployed to take care of pre and post counting scenario.

The Northeastern states are known as the strong hold states for Congress and Left parties.

But this time, Namo mantra “Sab Ka Saath, Sab Ka Vikas” seems helped BJP to emerge as a strong contender in all three states, and two exit polls have predicted that the BJP would come into power in Tripura and Nagaland. And it’s going to shake the Congress base in Meghalaya.

In Tripura:
The two exit polls predicting that the saffron party-led alliance may win over 35 seats in 60 member’s assembly in the state. And would be dethrone the 25-year-old Left Front government.

Tripura's voters cast their votes on February 18, setting a new record in the electoral history of India.

Though the strength of each of the assemblies in the three states is 60 members, voting was held in 59 constituencies for different reasons.

While a CPM candidate died in Tripura, a Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) candidate was killed in Meghalaya, which resulted in countermanding of the polls in one seat each in the two states.

In Meghalaya:

The voters cast their votes on February 27. Where BJP will be giving a tough fight to Congress, which has been in power for last one decade.

For the first time, Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma is contesting from two seats. The Congress has fielded 59 candidates, while the BJP put up nominees in 47 constituencies.

In Nagaland:

BJP alliance with NDPP (Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party) has sought to allay fears about the emergence of the saffron party in the state.

Neiphiu Rio, the chief ministerial candidate of the NDPP has contested in 40 seats and the BJP in 20.

Congress, which has given three chief ministers since the state's inception in 1963, is contesting in 18 seats.

The state recorded 75 per cent voter turnout in the assembly election amid sporadic violence which led to the death of a person in Zunheboto district.

Now all eyes are on the Newly formed NDPP and BJP alliance, whether they will be able to emerge victorious against the NPF (Naga People’s Front), which has been in power since 2003.
